Your February 10, 2010, Human Rights entry lists Father Frank Brennan as supporting a Human Rights Charter, and readers are referred to a lengthy article by Father Brennan in Eureka Street. That article notes Cardinal Pell’s “very public criticisms” of Father Brennan’s proposed charter. One such criticism is that a charter “will be used against religious schools, hospitals and charities”. This contention is also supported by The Australian Christian Lobby.
This is indeed an extremely serious matter, for if the Cardinal is correct, Catholics are being, albeit unwittingly, urged to support something that will be detrimental to their own religious freedom.
In the interest of balance, I believe you should also refer readers to those opposing view points.
